The Parking Wars Of Cyprus
We are lucky enough to have our Larnaca property offices right in the middle of town but unlucky enough not to have our own allocated parking space. Consequently every morning starts off with us trying to outwit the other tenants in our street just to get parked. All sorts of cones, chairs, plant pots and large metal structures are stratigically placed all along Victoros Hugo street to stop any intruders from leaving their wheels in somebody elses space even though technically none of us have “a space”. Should you dare to try the consequenses are not unlike the sign above!! You have been warned! I have witnessed otherwise sane, sensible loving individuals who would give you their last piece of souvlaki washed down with an amiable glass of Zivinir absolutely lose the plot when it comes to parking wars. And whats worse is that I am sucumbing to the same mentality although my technique is slightly different…I just stop the car in the middle of the road and cry. One thing that Cypriot men can’t cope with is a woman crying and out they run to magic me up a space.
On Tuesday evening I went to a friends house for her birthday bbq. Having worked late I was the last to arrive and the only parking space available was outside my friends next door neighbours house. Well you’ve never seen the like. Out she came in her nighty (it was 7 O’clock you understand) and in a voice straight out of Coranation Street she proceeded to shout, scream jump up and down in order to get me to move. I took great delight in smiling sweetly and saying “You’re ever so rude aren’t you? There’s no need to to be so horrible and rude you know.” This had the desired effect of taking the wind right out of her sails and her scuttling back into her castle. Ha ha. As it happpened a parking space on the other side of the road did become available so for the sake of world peace I did repark the car picturing her behind her curtains thinking she had won. Oh no she hadn’t, as after the food was consumed and the wine continued to flow out came the guitars and a good old fashioned and very load sing-a-long ensued. Don’t think lovely neighbour got much sleep that night
But what fun we all had. All together now………..
So if you’re thinking of buying a property in Cyprus make absolutely sure it comes with parking and your life in the sun will be all the sweeter. Bye for now and have a good weekend one and all.

Lily Dog
This is our beautiful dog Lily who was born and bred in Cyprus and who we have known from her birth. This photo was taken whilst staying at our friends house in Pyrgos near Limassol which is Lily’s second home. We all know that treatment of animals (especially dogs) is not all it could be in Cyprus but in our twelve years here we have seen a marked improvement in peoples attitudes and Lily is certainly an ambassador for all things doggy showing that dogs are really a mans (or womans) best friend. On a bit of a keep fit kick at the moment my man John can be seen on his bicycle riding around the countryside of Oroklini with Lily trotting alongside him. Pictures of this will be posted soon I promise. Bye for now and have a great week that promises some more rain. Bring it on

XL In Administration
News just broken in the early hours of this morning that the fourth largest travel company XL Leisure Group have gone in to administration with the immediate grounding of all XL airline aircraft. An estimated 85,000 people are now stranded abroad with a further 200,000 people’s holiday plans left in tatters. According to the BBC website the Cival Aviation Authority are making arrangements to help customers of the four tour companies within the XL group. These four companies are The Really Great Holiday Company PLC, Kosmar Villa Holidays PLC, Freedom Flights Limited and Aspire Holidays Limited.David Clover, a spokesman for the CAA, said “In respect of people who are currently abroad we’re making arrangements and working very closely with the travel industry to organise repatriation flights.
“Clearly though, with XL Airways no longer operating, we’re having to bring in substitute aircraft to bring people home.”
All package deals are covered by Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL) but customers who have booked direct with XL are not and will be charged by CAA to fly home on the substitute flights.
This current development is sure to have a knock on effect as XL was a major carrier to Cyprus and having had personal experience when Golden Sun went belly up the results have implications for Cyprus hotels, Cyprus car hire companies, Cyprus retaurants, Cyprus shops, Cyprus property companies etc etc so in the end we will all be paying the price. Watch this space. For all interested parties more information can be sought direct from the XL website here. For information from Hermes who run both Paphos and Larnaca Airports please see here . Well from all of us at Kaimar Consulting we would be happy to hear from you regarding your personal experiences regarding XL’s downfall so please do let us know Bye for now.
Meet Kalle…
Kalle is one of the Kaimar success stories. He was adopted from our car park by a really nice German lady who came all the way to Limassol from Argaka in Paphos just for him!! We dont just do Cyprus Property Sales you know.
Before he found his new home, Kalle didn’t look quite so pretty.
He was constantly dirty but had such a lovely character we could never resist giving him a scratch behind the ears!! Now he’s been cleaned up he looks much better and seems very happy and settled in his new home.
With the help of our friends at Catsnip, we ensured that, prior to his adoption, Kalles was sterilised and had a full check over by the vet.If you would like to adopt a cat or donate to catsnip please feel free to contact us here at Kaimar and we will be happy to assist.

Souvenier From Cyprus
I know we all want to take something back with us to remind us of our holidays but eleven year old Charlotte Maddison took things a little too far when she took a two inch Tarantula back with her after holidaying with her parents in Cyprus!!! Needless to say she hadn’t meant to and ended up getting a bite on the foot as she put on her trainers (Ouch!!)
Having made Cyprus my home for 11 years now I have so far managed to get through life without any arachnid experiences so please do not let this put you off coming to see us
as us Kaimar Consulting guys and girls really don’t bite!!
